Deal Reg 2.0 – XeeSM New Social Relationship Management Tool | In My Opinion

A tag cloud with terms related to Web 2.

According to Axel Schultze, founder of Social Media Academy, “deal registration” has become one of the key program elements for high tech channels. However the many different systems, different processes on one side and the fact that channel partners have to enter deals multiple times are reasons for a rather slow adoption. Traditional online registrations forms are rather unattractive to system integrators, VARs or resellers.

XeeReg may be a new opportunity for large and even small vendors.  The new web 2.0 style application is based on a radical new concept. Learn about the new way of multi vendor deal registration March , 2nd – 09:00 (PST)

via Deal Reg 2.0 (March 2) – XeeSM.

Having worked with customer relationship management tools for the past 25 plus years, I have formed my own opinion of which ones worked or didn’t.  [Disclosure] I have been fortunate to get involved with the Xeesm Beta program, testing out the functionality of the tool at several levels and have been pleased at the way the tool is helping me manage my social space.

At its most basic level the tool lets me manage the many links to my profile pages, website, blogs, LinkedIn groups and social networking sites.

At the Pro version, you can begin to collect groups of people and track activities in social spaces based on goals you set.  The next level of service is opportunity management.  If you are interested in learning more about how Social Relationship Management can be different than your experiences with CRM, you should pay attention to Xeesm.

Social media for the rest of us | Radio Interview | Tips and Techniques

Radio interviews are social media too!

Text, video, pictures, and audio podcasts are all pieces of information that can be shared on social media sites. If you get a chance to be interviewed in print, TV or radio, be sure to say yes!  Afterward grab the file to embed in your web page, blog or social networking site. I have been on the radio several times in January and February and intend to post on my blog, share on Facebook, post to Examiner.com, and transcribe for a future blog post.

How do you get on a radio show?

It helps to be in the right place at the right time. Dr. Kathleen Paris asked me to work with a group of her clients on the subject of LinkedIn and improving their online profiles. One of the attendees was Carol Koby, radio show host of All About Living on WTDY.

Carol is the producer and host of All About Living and Living Minutes, is one of the most experienced broadcasters in our market. A former women’s director and reporter for WITI-TV in Milwaukee and consumer advocate for WKOW-TV in Madison, she also moderated the Picture of Health cable television series for University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.

Carol had a last minute cancellation and I had some time, so I headed over to Clear Channel to record what turned out to be a great time talking with Carol about social media. In the hour, we covered what it is, how to use it, what to be careful of and various personal stories about each of us using our favorite sites.

Do it yourself radio or TV

Find out who the local talk show hosts (TV and Radio) are in your area and supply them a one page sheet on specific topics you are available to speak on. Follow HARO (Help a reporter out site) for postings of journalists needing subject matter experts. If they don’t call you right away, consider recording your own.

With a audio recording device, make it into a mp3 and post it. Itunes is full of podcasts that you can download or upload for little to no cost. Or use a flip video camera or better to capture yourself or others in video and post anywhere you would like.  I have been doing this on my blogs, incorporating my Youtube channel at the same time.

If you want to get a little more sophisticated, get the help of a local Toastmaster International group. This is a public speaking organization that I have belonged to since 1979.  Not only did my self-paced training and practice prepare me for being interviewed by Carol, many Toastmaster participants are preparing themselves for interviewing others and would love to help you record your session.

Listen to the interview here or head to Open Source Audio

Start practicing today for your day in the spotlight! How are you going to more visible this year?

The Olympics & Social Media Marketing | Thoughts on Blogs | Wendy Soucie Social Media Examiner

Any major sporting event these days will attract big sponsors, and the Olympics has always been an event where global giants like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Kodak, et al can flaunt their wares. With social media, you could say that brands are just using the Internet to find ever more ingenious ways to promote their brand – and that the Olympics is just a prop for that. McDonald’s clever alternate reality game is proof of that. Lenovo’s blog for schwag promotion for athletes is a more overt example.  Still, we think it’s good usage of social media tools and it shows just how far the Web has come that big brands are pumping money into it as part of their Olympics marketing. What do you think of these social media marketing efforts? What others have you come across?

via The Olympics & Social Media Marketing.

The Olympics are an athletic event

The Olympics should be about the athletes and the sacrifices, training and drive that has gotten them to this international level in their sports.  If we wanted an Olympics of herculean marketing efforts I think we should create that separately.  Having said that, I recognize that none of this could go on at all without big corporations who want to get their name attached to some of these athletes, as well as get the mindshare and marketshare of the international audience that the Olympics draws.

Social media can educate

I would like to focus on a different perspective on using social media. Social Media is a channel to provide conversation using Internet technology.  I much prefer to hear about the athletes who recognize that without the sacrifice of family members, friends and co-workers, they could not afford the time nor the financial commitment it takes. I like to hear the personal stories.  I like to understand how real these athletes are by having them tell their stories. This is the best use of social media, creating places where the athletes can write, share video, share pictures with family, friends and fans.  Let’s create that conversation. Let’s consider this an educational experience that teaches goal setting, multicultural understanding, sportsmanship, ethics and drive.

Tracy Sachtjen shares her thoughts

I recently interviewed Tracy Sachtjen who is the 5th on the USA Women’s Curling team now in Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics. The entire team decided together that using social media tools like blogging, Facebook, and skype would allow them to share their training and Olympic experiences with their entire family, and their communities.  Not everyone can afford to go to see an Olympic event.  Even fewer will ever reach that pinnacle to compete. What better way to share the moments than to use tools that easily do so.

During the interview with Tracy, she commented on how her 9 year-old son and his 3rd/4th grade multi-age classroom had made a class project out of the Olympics. They are writing a weekly article for the local paper. They have researched the events and the different countries. They are interviewing other area Olympic athletes.  Her son will be reporting live using Skype on the event he attends and different athletes he gets a chance to interview while in Vancouver. They entire town is engaged thru Tracy’s blog posts on the local online news site Lodi Valley News.

In the following video, Tracy talks about how her son and his class are using social media to enhance their educational experience.
